This is how it’s done…

Don’t know for certain, but I’m pretty sure that this young Kenyan runner never had formal PE instruction or training in “proper biomechanics.” The human body is magnificent, right out of the box. We are wired for graceful movement.

Frank,

I’ve read all your books and blog entries and just wanted to say thanks for all the great work. Truly inspiring and I appreciate it.

As to this post, I agree. We are wired for fantastic movement with no training except that provided by a natural environment and its demands. I was especially impressed with this idea after watching one of the vids you posted on youtube about the Hadza. There is a scene by the fire where they are moving around in squat positions while eating. There are every few modern westerners who could display this level of mobility and coordination in a deep squat, and these would be elite level martial artists, dancers or gymnasts. But for the Hadza this movement is completely natural with no training. We must look incredibly clumsy to them.

When I first saw this video on Lieberman’s site, my overwhelming reaction was “damn, that’s beautiful!”

The human body is indeed magnificent, and it’s a shame so many of us forget how to let it shine.

Wow! That is just perfect. Wished I had some of that left in my legs.
